Book Review: Sweet Addiction by J. Daniels

.....
Wedding hookups never amount to anything.

Those who partake in this wicked little activity know the rules. Get in. Get laid. Get out. There's no expectation of a relationship. It is what it is.

Dylan Sparks knows the rules. She’s familiar with the protocol. And she engages in the best sex of her life with a complete stranger at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding.

Reese Carroll doesn’t care about the rules. He wants more than just one night with Dylan. And he’s too addicting to pass up.

Sweet Addiction is the story of one girl’s struggle to keep things casual, and one boy’s desire to never let her go.

4.5 STARS
I had a blast reading this book, immediately from page one, all the way to The End. A supposed-to-be-one-time wedding hookup that leads to more? Possibly way more? Yup. I definitely got a good jolt from the book's description, but the full story was delightfully satisfying! My reaction to those first four chapters alone was to lay back and kick my legs in the air like an overexcited little girl!
Slutty wedding sex awaits and I am more than ready to experience it.
Dylan Sparks is a baker and runs her own business, Dylan's Sweet Tooth. (I'm a sucker for bakers...) She's sassy and candid, and she really made my book-girlfriend senses tingle as soon as she rolled up to a fancy chic wedding in her splashy delivery van! (Sam. It even has a name.) At this wedding, she meets Reese Carroll, one of those chance encounters, a friend of a friend. He's smart, a successful accountant, and devilishly handsome. (Ladies, if you swoon for suits, you'll enjoy Reese!) The heat turns up between these two, and wow...This pair starts out in such a deliciously fun and scandalous way! *wolfish grin*
Beautiful and highly intelligent? I feel like I've found a unicorn.
He simply nods and studies my face with a small grin.
From the beginning, I loved their chemistry! It all started at the wedding, and it took off from there! Good ol' irresistible sparks and sensual tension! If you're looking for fireworks, Dylan and Reese will give you an explosive show! Frosting foreplay? *thumbs up*  Getting frisky during office hours? *draws a check in the air* Even a window peep show?!? *squeals and covers mouth while nodding emphatically*
I dip my finger into the frosting. "Open," I command, holding my finger in front of his now slightly swollen lips. They curl up into a small smile before he opens his mouth, his tongue wrapping around my finger and pulling every last bit off.
But, I loved how they could also go from sexy and filthy to playful and endearing, effortlessly! Since their relationship didn't exactly begin in a traditional sense...ahem, wedding hook-up...it made the "getting to know you" phase a little backwards, but interesting! Like how they had to figure out their age gap...*squeals again, zips mouth*
The more couple-y they got--as much as they tried to deny what was developing--the more freaking adorable they became! I was a squee-machine while reading, and I even had a moment where I had to note in my Kindle: "THIS SCENE MAY BE TOO CUTE TO SURVIVE." Reese is a smooth-talker (and a dirty talker...), and he's slick with the romantic gestures! Letters, deliveries...songs...Like a bowl of luscious frosting, this book was sooo fluffy and good at times!
Dylan,
It's come to my attention that the only number I have for you is the bakery number. Now how am I supposed to send you text messages saying that I want you to sit on my face? Or that I can't stop thinking about the way it felt to be inside you? OR that I want to see you sometime this weekend if you're free. Please be free.
X Reese
And yet...This is one of those situations where it is sooo obvious to everyone but the actual couple that things have evolved beyond "just a fling." Dylan and Reese talk about being "casual" and "not getting too attached"...I'm making really exaggerated air quotes here...Because, c'mon, we all know those kinds of rules never last forever. *wiggles eyebrows*  "Shit is getting real" turned into "shit is already real"...into "shit is SO real"...into "SHIT IS SO REAL IT'S ALMOST BLINDING."
My head is full with things I want to say to him. I want to ask him to be honest with me...I want to ask him if this was becoming more for him than how it started out. But I don't. I don't ask him anything.
So, what's keeping this couple from being utter perfection and heavenly bliss??? As it turns out, until he met Dylan, Reese Carroll had been quite the unattainable bachelor with a reputation for commitment phobia. I could feel Dylan's doubt and paranoia creep in, every time she caught herself wondering about his past...until it all finally blows up. Things get messy. Ugly. Angry. *takes a deep breath*
"Don't pull away from me," he pleads, but even if he hadn't said the words, his eyes are telling me the same thing. They show every emotion, every unspoken thought. I am completely lost in his green stare, completely lost in him.
I'll admit...it drives me a little crazy when couples keep themselves apart. I almost feel like these conflicts are too simple. Certain situations could have been easily avoided. There were also subplots with minor characters that stirred the pot even more, and they didn't exactly do a whole lot for me. However, I did get how those details laid out some history, as well as set up complications for the future.
And GAHHH, I really loved Dylan and Reese! Enough to willingly overlook my small pet peeve! I couldn't avoid my "please, work out, please...please" feelings! I was begging for the reunion stage!
"Really?" His question hits me after several long seconds of silence.
I nod and cover my face with my hands. "Really. It's just you" Oh those words rip through me in a way I don't need them to.
Throughout all of this, the outstanding supporting cast deserves just as much praise! Julianna, Joey, and Ian are amazing best friends! (Oh my god, I wish I had my own Juls and Joey...) They really did provide support and relief! This author whipped up some fantastic dialogue and personalities! The banter was fresh and fun. *happy sigh* This book made me laugh. So easily. I even latched onto every behavorial nuance! Every tic. Every animated reaction. I could imagine these characters so vividly!
Sweet Addiction was sexy, funny, romantic, entertaining...I devoured this book crazy fast and had a huge grin on my face when I finished! If you're looking for a wild and sweet read, Dylan and Reese's story might be just the thing! ;)
